Tata AIG General launches health products

MediPlus is a smart and affordable top-up health insurance policy, while MediSenior is a health insurance policy for senior customers above 61

AIG General Insurance Company Ltd on Friday announced the launch of three new health insurance products for its consumers – MediPlus, MediSenior and MediRaksha.

MediPlus is a smart and affordable top-up health insurance policy, while MediSenior is a health insurance policy for senior customers above 61 and MediRaksha is a basic medical insurance plan aimed for residents in semi-urban and rural locations.

KK Mishra, MD & CEO, TATA AIG General Insurance commented, “With the ever rising costs of healthcare services and growing inflation, senior citizens are grappling to keep up with basic medical expenses. These innovative covers are a comprehensive offering with a unique set of features that distinguishes itself from the existing gamut of health insurance products currently available for all, especially senior citizens in the market.”

The USP of Mediplus – a top up health plan is that it triggers only once the pre-set limit of the employer’s primary health insurance plan / primary health insurance cover has ended. Thus the premium rates also work out to be more efficient than a regular health insurance plan.

The policy also offers a “Waiver of Deductible” feature which allows the customer to migrate to Tata AIG’s full fledged indemnity based health insurance policy (without any deductible) for a Rs. 5 lacs sum insured during his retirement years between the ages of 58-60 years. This feature is available to all customers who hold/have held a medical policy from Tata AIG before the age of 50 years.

The entry age for MediSenior is 61 years and there is no restriction on the maximum age at entry. MediSenior provides comprehensive coverage against in-patient hospitalisation, pre & post hospitalization, day care procedures, domiciliary and organ donor expenses, emergency ambulance.

These products also entitle for tax benefits under Section 80D on premiums paid. Policy holders can use the cashless claim settlement across an extensive network of hospitals.

MediRaksha, is Tata AIG’s health insurance cover specifically designed for Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns or for those who fall under the lower income class of the society. The sum insured options range from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1,00,000. This cover allows for lower premiums and is meant to make health insurance affordable and accessible to all.

All the three insurance covers allow customers to choose either a one or a two year term and there are discounts for choosing a longer term and covering two members in the family.
